An Israeli military court denied bail on Monday to a Palestinian-Canadian charged with plotting attacks on Jews in North America. Jamal Akal, 23, whose lawyer and family have denied Israeli allegations he was recruited by the Islamic militant group Hamas to carry out bombings, arrived at court with his hands and feet shackled and wearing a brown prison uniform. Akal has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and receiving illicit military training to take part in a Hamas plot to “assassinate a senior Israeli official in the U.S. and attack members of the U.S. and Canadian Jewish communities.” Full Story
