Commander of the Joint Security Task Force for the Niger Delta, “Operation Restore Hope”, Brig-General Elias Zamani said yesterday the his men would remain in the riverine communities of the Ijaw and Itsekiri to ensure that alleged plans to launch a new offensive against each other was checked. He also said the deployment of airforce helicopters to Warri North was to dissuade the warring communities from unleashing mayhem there. Consequently, he disclosed that the helicopters did not open fire or kill innocent Ijaw in the communities as being claimed by some Ijaw groups. Full Story
