Three Kenyans being held in connection with last year’s deadly attacks in Mombasa were charged Friday in a newly disclosed plot to bomb the U.S. embassy in Nairobi. The embassy, rebuilt after a suicide bomber attacked the previous U.S. mission in the city’s financial district in 1998, is located on an isolated plot and heavily patrolled by guards. Security officials say the compound was the target of a plot in June involving an explosives-packed truck and hijacked plane which could have crashed into the embassy building.
