Al-Qaeda terrorists have launched attacks in Turkey to destabilize a moderate Muslim country that supports the U.S.-led war on terrorism, Turkish officials say. These officials expect further attacks. “If you see that the table is not destroyed in the first (attack), you get a second,” Mehmet Dulger, chairman of the Turkish parliament’s foreign affairs committee, said Thursday. “Turkey is a logical target … because of the kind of country it represents,” said Mark Parris, a former U.S. ambassador to Turkey. “It embodies the proposition that you can be Muslim and still have fruitful, positive relationships with non-Muslim societies.
