An explosion went off Thursday in front of the offices of a Kurdish political party in the northern oil city of Kirkuk, killing four people and wounding several others, a party official said. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, or PUK, is a pro-U.S. group whose head, Jalal Talabani, is the current head of the U.S.-installed Iraqi Governing Council. “An explosion took place at 10:30 this morning,” said Jalal Johar, the party’s representative in the city said.
