Norway remains committed to the Sri Lankan peace process and suspended its mediation only as a “tactical” move to resolve the island’s political crisis, Indian Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal has said. “There is a tactical suspension but it is not as if they (Norway) are walking away,” Sibal said Wednesday. Sibal, who Tuesday met Norwegian envoy Erik Solheim in New Delhi, said Oslo wanted to know whether Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga or rival Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe controlled the defence ministry.
