Colombian rebels holding seven foreign tourists since September said they would release two of them early next week, a Roman Catholic Church mediator told AFP. “They told us that they would free the Spaniard and the German on Monday,” Father Dario Echeverry said. Echeverry said the National Liberation Army (ELN) had agreed to release Spaniard Asier Huegun Etxeberria and German Reinhilt Weigel, who were kidnapped along with six others on September 12. A British hostage escaped that same day. Echeverry did not give any further details for fear of hindering the negotiations.
