The New York Police Department is the first police department in the country to have direct access to a global database to track terrorists and other criminals, Interpol announced Wednesday. The new, heavily encrypted data system, called I-24/7, allows officers to determine if a person detained for any type of offense — including the most minor — is wanted for any other crimes worldwide.
