Israel, US waging "psychological warfare" against Syria: VP

Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam accused Israel of waging “psychological warfare” against Syria by threatening to attack the country and last month bombing an area outside Damascus. “The Israeli threats are daily. They amount to psychological warfare, waged by the US Congress, the media and Israel,” Khaddam told a group of Arab and foreign reporters on Monday. Tensions have flared between Damascus and the Jewish state since October 5 when Israel launched its first air strike in 30 years near the Syrian capital, bombing what it said was a militant Palestinian training camp. The Israeli army’s chief of staff General Moshe Yaalon has hinted that more action could be taken against Syria if it “ignores the message” of last month’s air strike, Israel’s public radio reported Monday.
