POLICE in Belfast yesterday said they were questioning a man of North African origin suspected of having links to al-Qaeda. A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said last night: “A man is being questioned about serious crime and about possessing information likely to be of use to terrorists. We are unable to discuss his custody further at this time.” Sources confirmed the suspect, an Algerian arrested in Belfast on Monday, has been taken to Gough Barracks in Armagh for questioning.
