Athens teachers clash with police
Striking Greek teachers trying to break into the education ministry in Athens have clashed with riot police. Hundreds of teachers demanding higher wages had caused traffic jams during a march through the city centre. The crowds later dispersed as the city was hit by heavy rainfall. No-one was arrested. Greece has endured a wave of industrial action – with doctors, nurses, lawyers and ferry workers among those already on strike over calls for more wages or benefits. Full Story
