A group calling itself Zene Srebrenica, the women of Srebrenica, is taking the Dutch government to court for damages. The women’s husbands were among the thousands of Muslim men who were taken away and killed in the worst massacre of the Bosnian war, eight years ago. Dutch peacekeepers were stationed at Srebrenica. And the women say they want the Dutch government to finally accept its responsibility. An official report on the failed Dutch peacekeeping mission led to the resignation of Prime Minister Wim Kok last year. But Zene Srebrenica’s lawyer, Liesbeth Zegfeld, told Radio Netherlands’ Perro de Jong this doesn’t mean the women have an open-and-shut case. Full Story
