At least three Palestinians were killed and 25 wounded in air strikes on Hamas targets as Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon laid the blame for the continuing violence firmly at the feet of his arch-foe Yasser Arafat. Two of the dead were members of the Islamist movement’s armed wing, killed when a missile fired by a combat helicopter slammed into their car as they were driving in the centre of Gaza City. Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades members Khaled al-Masri and Iyad Fayez al-Hilu had been trying to drive away with weapons they had salvaged from the site of an earlier raid on a weapons base, Hamas sources said.
