Guerrillas attacked a U.S. patrol in the flashpoint town of Falluja, west of Baghdad, on Monday and two civilians were killed in an ensuing firefight, witnesses said. The shooting erupted after a U.S. Humvee military vehicle was hit by a bomb or a grenade, witnesses said. An Iraqi witness, Abdul-Qader Mohammed, said one Iraqi and one Syrian civilian were killed and four Iraqis wounded in crossfire during the half-hour gunbattle. Two Iraqi civilian cars were destroyed.
