Extra police have been deployed in northern India to prevent hardline Hindu activists from holding a major rally at a controversial religious site. Thousands of Hindu activists are trying to enter Ayodhya where they plan to march on Friday, demanding that a temple be built at the site of an ancient mosque. Indian police have arrested more than 2,000 of them on their way to the town from all over India.
