A U.S. soldier was killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in the Iraqi town of Tikrit Monday, the U.S. military said. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Army’s 4th Infantry Division said two other soldiers were slightly wounded when guerrillas attacked a patrol of Bradley fighting vehicles in the home town of ousted President Saddam Hussein. “The patrol was hit by an RPG (rocket-propelled grenade),” Maj. Josslyn Aberle said. The attack brought to 96 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in attacks in Iraq since President Bush declared major combat operations over on May 1 after the war that deposed Saddam. Full Story
