Massoud Barzani, a prominent Kurdish member of Iraq’s Governing Council, said the bloody attacks taking place in his country are acts of terrorism, not resistance against the US-led occupation. Barzani, speaking after a meeting here with Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam, said “there is no resistance, but terrorist acts that take place from time to time that the Iraqi people are paying the price for.” He also accused “foreigners infiltrated into Iraq of creating problems for the Iraqi people.” Barzani, head of the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP), added that Syria was “disposed to furnish any aid to the Iraqi people to get out of the crisis,” but that he had asked no specific of Damascus.
