Toll in Colombia motorbike bomb up as rebels claim tourist kidnapping

The death toll from a bomb-carrying motorcycle that exploded in southern Colombia over the weekend rose to 12, as President Alvaro Uribe left for New York to defend his security policy before the United Nations. The latest death from the bombing came amid a spate of attacks that left at least 13 dead, as the rebel National Liberation Army claimed credit for the September 12 kidnapping of foreign tourists. The death of a wounded victim in the bomb attack in Florencia brought the death toll in Sunday’s attack to 12. The number of wounded rose to 56 as officials tallied wounded from all hospitals, said Edilberto Ramon Endo, a regional government secretary.
