Federal authorities announced yesterday that they have arrested a juvenile on charges of sending out a variant of the “Blaster” worm that hit hundreds of thousands of computers in August. Because the suspect is a juvenile, few details were released by authorities, but the arrest was the second in the United States that targeted authors of altered versions of the Blaster worm, which led infected computers on an e-mail attack against Microsoft Web sites. The author of the Blaster worm itself has not been identified. “It’s an ongoing investigation. I can’t give you anything else,” said John Hartingh, spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Seattle, referring to the statement his office released yesterday announcing the arrest. Full Story
