Ted Duskes has learned from experience to be vigilant about computer viruses and worms. “We’ve been hit before and it stops you for a day or two days – you become very nonproductive,” said Duskes, who runs a Web site for a Montreal firm that buys and sells surplus electronics. “The problem is not so much the worms doing damage but just wasting our time.” Duskes frequently updates his Windows operating system and his anti-virus software. His personal computer is protected by a firewall. And he keeps up with the latest virus techniques. Unfortunately, most home users aren’t quite so security conscious.
