Police in the city are now on the lookout for a couple who are suspected to be involved in the twin blasts that rocked the city on Monday, killing 46 and mutiliating over 150 people. Interrogation of Shiv Narayan Pandey, whose taxi was used to place the explosives at the Gateway of India parking lot, has revealed that this couple with a child had hired the vehicle from Andheri on Sunday for a two-day tour of Mumbai. He had rented out the car for Rs 600 a day. He is said to have informed the police that his taxi was specially selected by the couple, who were on the lookout for a CNG-run vehicle, as the fuel tank is placed in the trunk. The couple is said to have deposited its baggage, allegedly containing the explosive, in the trunk. The taxi driver has informed the police that while the man alighted at Dhobi Talao on Monday afternoon his wife and the child continued their tour till the Gateway of India. On reaching the spot, the woman passenger instructed Pandey to have lunch and said she too would take her meals. Within minutes, the bomb ripped apart the empty vehicle. When he returned after lunch, he witnessed the devastation the blast had wreaked. An alarmed Pandey immediately approached the police and volunteered information. Full Story
