A little-known email worm, VBS.Redlof.A, was the top threat in the Asia-Pacific region during the month of July, according to statistics released by the anti-virus software maker, Symantec. The same worm was third on the global list. A variant of the BugBear worm, BugBear.B, was the number one global threat during the same period. David Banes, regional manager Symantec Security Response, Asia Pacific, said VBS.Redlof.A was a polymorphic, encrypted Visual Basic Script that that infected .html, .htm, .asp, .php, .jsp, and .vbs files on all disk drives.
