Iran will soon extradite certain al-Qaeda members it is holding to their home countries and put others on trial, Interior Minister Abdolvahed Mussavi Lari revealed. Others would be deported to the countries from which they entered Iran, Mussavi Lari was quoted as saying Wednesday by the state news agency IRNA. His comments came after Intelligence Minister Ali Yunesi confirmed that senior members of the Islamic militant network were among “many” Iran was still holding after the US-led war that toppled the Taliban militia in neighbouring Afghanistan. “Since the fall of the Taliban, we have arrested a large number of al-Qaeda members, some of whom have been expelled or handed over to their country of origin,” Yunesi told a press conference. “We are still holding many others, small and big.” Full Story
