Fear of a security breach is hindering more widespread deployment of wireless applications, according to the latest Roundtable discussion hosted by Sage Research Inc. Earlier this month, a group of IT and telecom decision makers were assembled to discuss ‘The Mobile Enterprise,’ the latest installment of the Sage Technology Roundtable online focus groups. The group found that many businesses have the perception that wireless applications are insecure, a view they have formed through ‘hearsay and press articles,’ not personal experience. ‘This suggests that aggressively educating potential buyers on mobile security successes, via these same means, will go a long way toward allaying these concerns,’ says Chris Neal, a research director at Sage.
