Saudi police have foiled planned “terror” attacks against the kingdom’s key installations, including targets in the oil-rich Eastern Province, and arrested 16 suspected terrorists, the interior ministry revealed. “Security agencies have managed to thwart terrorist operations that were about to be carried out against vital installations and uncovered a number of terrorist cells,” a ministry official was quoted as saying by the official SPA news agency. “Sixteen people linked to these cells were arrested” and security forces are still tracking down others, the official said Monday. Large quantities of weapons, rocket launchers and explosive materials were found in their hideouts in the capital Riyadh, the central province of Qassim and the Eastern Province, he said. Full Story
