The youngest of three brothers accused of playing key roles in last year’s Bali bombings went on trial Monday as a date was set for the first verdict linked to the attack, which killed 202 people and remains the worst terrorist attack seen since September 11. A judge said Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, the first Bali suspect to go on trial, will be sentenced on August 7. He refused to plead against a widely expected death sentence on Monday, saying that doing so would make “infidels” and “tyrannical people” think he was “afraid of being punished by death.” Mr Nurhasyim, 40, is the eldest of three brothers accused of playing key roles in the October 12 attacks on two nightclubs and the US consulate in Bali.
