Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon may include about 50 members of the radical groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad in a list of Palestinian prisoners to be considered for release. Sharon would submit the list for approval by a ministerial commission at the start of next week ahead of a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmud Abbas, said the dailies Yediot Aharonot and Haaretz. Haaretz said between 40 and 60 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants who have not been implicated in bloody attacks would be added to a group of 350 detainees that the government agreed in principle to release earlier this month on the recommendation of the Israeli security services.
