Indonesian prosecutors dismissed lawyers’ arguments yesterday that Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, a key suspect in last year’s Bali bombings, had not planned the attack. The prosecutors went on to repeat their call for a death sentence. Amrozi, who has admitted involvement in the blasts that killed 202 people, mostly foreign tourists, grinned broadly when he heard prosecutors demand the death penalty. His lawyers – like those of another key suspect on trial, Imam Samudra – have argued that their client did not help to plan the attack.
