Israeli commandos on Wednesday freed unharmed an Israeli taxi driver held for five days by Palestinians in a kidnapping that jolted the relative calm ushered in by a cease-fire crucial to a new peace plan. In another sensitive case, Israeli police whisked a man from Northern Ireland out of a security lock-up after finding no evidence he was helping Palestinians make bombs and drove him to Tel Aviv airport for deportation, witnesses and security sources said.
