The government announced on Wednesday new measures to fight terrorism. The measures were announced by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. “The instructions were issued in relation to the bomb explosion at the House of Representatives on Monday, the arrest of nine alleged Jemaah Islamiyah members, the trial of Abu Bakar Ba’asyir as well and other Bali bombing suspects and the escape of Fathur Rohman Al-Ghozi from a prison in the Philippines,” Susilo said. “We cannot say that terrorist activities in Indonesia and Southeast Asia are on the decline. Indeed, these activities are increasing,” he said. The measures include the heightening of security at allgovernment buildings and public facilities.
