Dutch police said on Thursday they had arrested a Spanish man travelling on a false passport and Spanish security sources said he was suspected to be a member of armed Basque separatist group ETA. A military police spokesman at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport said the man was detained on Tuesday as he tried to enter the Netherlands. “He was apprehended after it emerged he held a false passport and appears on international (police ‘wanted’) lists,” military police spokeswoman Frederique Hermie said. The spokesman declined to identify the man or say if he was suspected of belonging to ETA. Spanish security sources in Madrid said the arrested man was suspected ETA member Alexander Akarregi Casas who was believed to have been on his way to Venezuela. Full Story
