Two More Suspects Arrested in Yushenkov Case

Two more people have been detained for their suspected role in the murder of State Duma Deputy Sergei Yushenkov. The suspects are believed to have assisted Yushenkov’s murderers, law enforcement sources told Interfax on Wednesday. Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov said earlier that another two suspects in Yushenkov’s murder had been detained. Sources said the two men, residents of the Republic of Komi, have been charged with complicity in the crime. “They provided the killers with a car, ensured that no one appeared at the scene of the planned murder, and were responsible for other technical issues,” a source said. A total of six people have been detained for possible involvement in the contract killing. Four of them have already been charged. According to the theory of the investigation, Yushenkov was killed by two Syktyvkar residents. At the same time, the Liberal Russia party’s Mikhail Kodanev and his aide Alexander Vinnik are suspected of masterminding the crime.
