U.N. police said on Wednesday they had arrested a Kosovo Albanian man suspected of trying to recruit members to a shadowy guerrilla group known as the Albanian National Army (ANA). “This is not the first time we have arrested somebody as an ANA member but it is the first time that we arrested somebody as an ANA recruiter,” police spokesman Derek Chappell said. Kosovo’s U.N. governor, German diplomat Michael Steiner, two months ago took the unprecedented step of branding ANA a terrorist organization after it claimed responsibility for a bomb attack on a railway in a Serb part of the province.
