POLICE around the country have joined forces to fight hi-tech crime with the launch yesterday of the Australian High Tech Crime Centre. It will provide a nationally co-ordinated approach to fighting serious, complex and multi-jurisdictional hi-tech crimes. The hi-tech crime centre will be hosted by the Australian Federal Police in Canberra. It will have an initial staff of 13, which is expected to expand. Its role includes education and prevention of hi-tech crime through co-operation with law enforcement, government agencies, industry groups and private organisations.
