The UK government has eased its ban on flights to Kenya, lifting the restriction on flights to the capital Nairobi but maintaining a ban on flights to the coastal resort city of Mombassa. The British Department for Transport announced the move Thursday, citing what it called “an improvement in the security situation, and close co-operation with the Kenyan authorities.” The ban on all flights from the UK to Kenya was imposed on May 16 amid “credible” fears of a terrorist attack on aircraft. The warning against “inessential” travel to Kenya was also lifted, although officials say the threat of terrorist attacks in the country remains “real” and have advised all visitors to exercise caution.
