An Ohio truck driver has admitted serving as a key operative in the USA for al-Qaeda, determining whether New York’s Brooklyn Bridge could be targeted in a second wave of terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. Attorney General John Ashcroft said Thursday that Kashmir native Iyman Faris, 34, a naturalized U.S. citizen, also tried to obtain tools that could bend railroad lines and cause derailments. Faris, from Columbus, pleaded guilty May 1 in federal court in Alexandria, Va., to a count of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and a count of providing material support to terrorists.
