The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is not just about to give up its battle with government forces in the field despite the recent statement of its chairman renouncing terrorism. MILF chair Hashim Salamat’s statement Sunday is deemed to pave the way for the resumption of the stalled formal peace talks after it emphasized the MILF’s condemnation and abhorrence of terroristic tendencies. “We are not letting our guard down. We expect more attacks. We have been monitoring the movement of the troops and we have noted that there has been additional forces deployed in certain areas in Central Mindanao,” MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu said. Kabalu added military operations have been intensified as more government forces have been deployed to areas in the towns within Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao. “We have been watching them. The soldiers have been moving around in operations. As we have said, we are on active defense which means we do not attack but we counterattack if we are attacked.
