The radical Palestinian group Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing earlier in the day that killed a shopkeeper in northern Israel. The claim by the group’s armed wing, the Al Qods Brigades, was made in an anonymous phone call to AFP on Thursday, several hours after the attack in a grocery store-restaurant near the city of Beit Shean in the northern Jordan valley. The owner was killed and the premises badly damaged by a bomb which Israeli army radio said was hidden in a bag and appeared to have exploded prematurely. The suicide bomber was identified as Ahmad Ali Abahra, 20, from Yamun, a village near Jenin, in the northern West Bank. Full Story
