Suspected Colombian guerrilla Florentino Campero Gonzalez, considered to be second in command of the ELN’s urban militia in Cucuta, has been arrested along with his girlfriend, local police announced Sunday. Campero was caught in a sting operation when he went to receive an extortion payment from a small businessman, regional police commander, Col. Marco Antonio Pedreros, told reporters. Campero was accompanied by his girl friend Sonia Yamile Correa, who also belongs to the National Liberation Army, the official said. The couple was captured Friday afternoon in a residential sector on the outskirts of Cucuta, some 600 kilometers (375 miles) northeast of Bogota, along the Venezuelan border, Pedreros said.
