Interlink Electronics is set to ship a security device that can capture handwritten signatures as well as thumbprints for security applications. The device is designed for access control and to support the digital signing of sensitive documents. The ePad-id, available shortly, has a touch-sensitive pad that can be written on with an attached stylus, and also offers an integrated fingerprint sensor. The ePad-id hardware includes two USB ports so further devices, such as a smartcard reader, can be attached. “European government institutions and businesses increasingly require both signatures and thumbprints on transactions and legal documents, and ePad-id allows them to accomplish both with a single device for the first time,” said Rod Vesling, vice president of marketing for Interlink.
