Consumers with broadband Internet connections think their computers, and the personal information stored inside them, are safe. But they are sorely mistaken. According to a study conducted by America Online Inc. (NYSE:AOL – News), the Internet unit of AOL Time Warner Inc. , the vast majority of broadband users believe they’ve taken sufficient steps to protect their computers from Internet-related threats, such as viruses and hackers.
