A large explosion has rocked central Paris, injuring at least 17 people. Emergency services said it was believed to have been caused by gas. The blast took place at 1150 local time (0950 GMT) in a building on the rue d’Uzes, near the Paris stock exchange. Part of a block of flats and offices collapsed following the explosion. Around 140 firefighters rushed to scene to help free people from the building. Police sealed off streets around the building. “It happened on the third, fourth or fifth floor,” said fire service spokesman Christian Decolloredo. “There is debris everywhere. We are working very hard. We are trying to see if anybody is trapped underneath.” Full Story
