President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt committed today that the Arab states would aid Palestinians “solely through the Palestinian Authority,” a clear way of saying that they would cut off terrorism funding. “We affirm our position again against terror and violence,” he said after a summit meeting here today with other Arab leaders and President Bush. Mr. Mubarak added: “We will continue to fight the scourge of terrorism against humanity and reject the culture of extremism violence in any form or shape, from whatever source or place, regardless of justifications or motives, being fully aware of their danger as a plague that threatens the peace and stability of the whole world.” Mr. Mubarak’s statement was welcomed by Mr. Bush, who said Arab leaders had committed to use all means to cut off assistance, “including arms and financing, to any terror group.” Full Story
