Indian troops were on high alert as the legislative session met for the start of a new session here in the summer capital of restive Indian-administered Kashmir, police and witnesses said. The session marks the first meeting of the newly-constituted assembly in Srinagar, the urban hub of Kashmir where Muslim militants have waged a 14 year anti-Indian insurgency. The new government led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed took charge of the scenic Himalayan state in November following elections in September/October.
