Four key suspects for last year’s Bali bombings have testified that Abu Bakar Bashir, the alleged leader of terror group Jemaah Islamiyah currently on trial for treason, had nothing to do with the attack. The testimonies are a blow to Indonesian authorities, who accuse the 64-year-old cleric (pictured) of blessing a series of bombings in Indonesia and a failed plot to assassinate President Megawati Sukarnoputri. But one of the suspects also admitted on Wednesday his own involvement in the bombings and said he knew Osama bin Laden, head of the al-Qaeda terrorist network, “very well”.
