Kenya will today receive hi-tech anti-terrorist equipment from the US government for use at its three leading airports. The sophisticated security equipment, which includes modern baggage X-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors and explosive trace detectors are aimed at checking the threat of terrorist attacks in Kenya. The equipment will be installed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Wilson airport, and Moi International Airport, Mombasa. The equipment valued at US$1 million (approximately Sh80m) will be handed over to Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) officials by the US Ambassador Johnnie Carson. It is anticipated the equipment will help improve aviation safety and in Kenya. The machines donated through the US ” Safe Skies for Africa” will be operational immediately.
