A noted neurosurgeon of Patna Dr Ramesh Chandra was kidnapped on Saturday night, say police sources. They recovered his car here on Sunday and a case has been lodged in this connection. Chandra was allegedly kidnapped while returning from a dinner party hosted by Medical Council of India (MCI) member Ajay Kumar in honour of leading neuroscientists of eight states attending their two-day conference here. Chandra was driving as his driver was on leave. According to unconfirmed reports, the kidnappers have demanded a huge ransom. Union minister C P Thakur has informed deputy prime minister L K Advani about Chandra’s abduction and sought his intervention in the matter. The doctor’s friends have also informed RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav about the kidnapping. The Indian Medical Association (IMA), at its emergency meeting, discussed the situation in the wake of Chandra’s kidnapping. Full Story
