Colombia on Saturday extradited to the United States a man wanted for kidnapping five U.S. construction contractors and killing one of them in Ecuador, the police said. Gerardo Herrera, 43, was handed over to FBI agents for a flight to the District of Columbia, a police spokesman said. He was at least the third member of an eight-man Colombian gang to be extradited to the United States for kidnapping 12 people, including five Americans working in Ecuador on road construction and oil pipeline projects, in October 2000. The men are accused of killing one of the hostages, American Ronald Sander, 54 an employee of an Oklahoma-based company, Helmerich and Payne, in January 2001. Full Story
