Thousands of clients of Dutch hosting service providers, Alphamega, The Hosting Company, and Original Europe (part of The Hosting Company) found themselves without websites, after hackers attacked the hosting companies’ web servers last weekend, destroying software required to run the sites and stealing data. All three service providers apparently share the same computer and network infrastructure of Wsgate, also based in the Netherlands. Although Alphamega’s clients were informed that access to their website was temporarily disrupted and would be restored shortly, they were not given the real facts surrounding the incident. Alphamega claims (published on its own website) it backs up all relevant information on its web servers’ computer discs to magnetic tape every 24 hours. Full Story
