The federal revenue department has been receiving confidential information about Canadians by fax and e-mail, prompting auditors to raise concerns over the possibility of data falling into the wrong hands. An internal Canada Customs and Revenue Agency review concluded “certain controls needed to be enhanced” to ensure sensitive information was being securely handled.
